The area is also home to several large barbecue cooking contests, notably the Great Lenexa BBQ Battle and the American Royal World Series of Barbecue, the largest barbecue competition in the world. The Kansas City metropolitan area has more than 100 barbecue restaurants, a number of which are nationally renowned. Side dishes served with Kansas City barbecue include a unique style of baked beans, French fries, coleslaw, and other classic barbecue side dishes. īurnt ends-the crusty, fatty, flavorful meat cut from the point of a smoked beef brisket-are among the items prepared. Most types of barbecued meat served in other American cities known for barbecue, including pulled pork, brisket, beef ribs, chicken, and pork ribs in a number of different cuts, are served in Kansas City-area barbecue restaurants. Most local restaurants and sauce companies offer several varieties with spicy and tangy flavor profiles, historically the sauces were not sweet until Rich Davis, a child psychiatrist from KC developed the KC Masterpiece sauce which used molasses and varied greatly from the more traditional sauces used at the longtime KC BBQ restaurants where orders are made at a counter. Kansas City barbecue is seasoned with a dry rub, slow-smoked over a variety of woods and served with a thick tomato-based barbecue sauce, which is an integral part of Kansas City style. Kansas City barbecue is characterized by its use of a wide variety of meats: pork, beef, chicken, turkey, lamb, sausage, and sometimes even fish. The Kansas City–style sauce is characterized by a thick, sweet sauce derived from brown sugar, molasses, and tomatoes. Henry Perry is credited as the originator of the style, as two of the oldest Kansas City–style barbecue restaurants still in operation trace their roots back to Perry's pit. We ordered the brownie dessert to enjoy later (it also took a long time to be brought out).Kansas City–style barbecue refers to the specific regional barbecue style of slowly smoked meat originating from Kansas City in the early 20th century. The lemonade was refreshing but we already had our meal by the time it was served. It would have been helpful for someone to be refilling water more quickly the server was obviously very busy/rushed. We definitely spent more than we usually do but have lots of leftovers. If we hadn't had the appetizers and they weren't so busy, I would have sent it back. Instead of sending it back I just ate some of the edge and will enjoy the leftovers. I ordered the steak medium rare but it was still cool and purple inside. Our party had a variety of menu items including several meat dishes (the stars of the meal), cheesy potato bake (rich and delicious), full-flavored baked beans, broccoli that's always cooked to perfection, and a KC strip (seemed over-priced). Appetizers were good the onion rings were especially light and crispy. They were out of the mushrooms, my favorites, so that was disappointing (but I didn't go hungry). We were celebrating a special occasion and ordered three appetizers (hot wings, shrimp, and onion rings). It's covered for shade and has both heaters and fans for any weather. We waited only about 15 minutes for a patio table. Crazy-busy on a Thursday evening! People were packed inside and more kept coming in.

That should do it for this case, but if you need more help do: info tar You can put a ~10nF cap on each pin to ground to make the Arduino insensitive to the divider impedance. More than about 10k, and you will start to see issues with the sampling capacitor of the ADC not charging. But you need to be careful about maintaining a low enough output impedance of each divider to drive the Arduino ADC. Big resistors obviously also help regardless of whether you switch them. That means that for a 5 cell system with 4.2V max, you need to divide each voltage by at least 6:1. So perhaps 3.5V is the right choice, nice round number that's smaller than 3.8V. So if you get a FET with Vth specified as being between 0.4 and 1.2V, say, then you need all the Ax values to end up below (5V - 1.2V) = 3.8V. You need each Ax pin to end up below Vcc (or whatever the GPIO output high voltage is) by more than the threshold voltage of the FET. If they're too high, then the FETs aren't actually turned on, because they're only turned on by the difference between the GPIO voltage and the measured divider voltage. This works ONLY IF the measured voltages at the Ax pins are expected to be low enough. When low, all the FETs are off and no current is drawn. When this GPIO is high, you get the divided output. All the NFET gates then get tied together and sent to a GPIO. So for instance for channel A4 you would disconnect R2 from pin A4, and then connect the NFET source to A4 and the drain to R2. Another way, slightly more "clever" but also with drawbacks, is to put a single "logic level" NFET between each ADC pin and each high side resistor. Then you use an open collector driver (which can be just an NFET) with a resistor on the output to pull down each PFET gate when you want to measure. You put a PFET with source connected to each cell positive, and a source-to-gate resistor in parallel with a ~8V zener diode. One way is to apply a high side switch to each divider. (to be clear none of these are "good" in terms of being a professional/production solution) Sure there are a couple of solutions here. Thanks a lot for reading, I am sorry, if i have fogotten something essentialĮDIT: I hope this is the right sub, sorry if not! I just now could not find a alternative online, that does not use a voltage divider.Īs far as I understand, the voltage devider was crappy calculated, with a much so low resistance, so the cells got sort of shorted out, or the resistance of the voltage divider added to the internal resistance, so that the cells discharged just though the voltage devider. Is there a clever way to read out the individual voltages of the cells, without discharging the cells? Or is it working in theory, but the resistors were calculated poorly? How ever, I just wanted to continue the project, but the first two cells were discharged to about 1.5 or 1 V, so beyond recharge. It worked, but I broke the display, so I had to wait for a new one to arrive and I did not take out the cells. I had help of a friend, who studies something electronic related and he gave me the hint to use a voltage divider, to pull down the voltage enough for the arduino to handle (I calculated it with about 4.5V, and adjusted the values in the code, to match the measured voltage). I checked the voltage of the individual cells after letting it rest for a while, and the voltages seemed to be fine. This code runs on all Arduino variants as well as the ATtinyx4 series chips.įor a more in-depth article, which includes calculation details, applications and calibration how-to, see Secret Arduino Voltmeter – Measure Battery Voltage.I started a Li-Ion 18650 battery-project for a diy-bluetooth speaker this summer, but only reacently got around to continue working on it. You can however, calibrate the scale factor for greater accuracy. There are some limitations in accuracy due to tolerances on the internal voltage reference. Uint8_t low = ADCL // must read ADCL first - it then locks ADCH While (bit_is_set(ADCSRA,ADSC)) // measuring set the reference to Vcc and the measurement to the internal 1.1V reference In the code following, we will actually measure the internal voltage reference, and then use this value to calculate our actually Vcc. The way to perform these feats is use the internal reference to actually measure Vcc. You need to be cooking your beans from dry.Ĭanned beans have their virtues, don’t get me wrong. If you’re wondering what it means for a bean to be “fresh”, generally, that means it’s been less than one year since they’ve been dried. This is not the time to be buying beans from the bottom shelf at that dusty supermarket. And the best beans, fortunately ( or unfortunately) for you, start with fresh, dry, packaged beans purchased from a reliable supplier like Rancho Gordo, or at least, from a large grocery store that probably has large turnover. Once you know how to cook with dry beans, you’ll never go back. It absolutely could not be easier, and you’ll feel like a witch/wizard/mage/whatever. Or maybe, you watched your mom or grandma make beans from scratch and never actually tried it yourself! So here I am, telling you to just make… beans. Thanks to a lucky coincidence between chef Carla Lalli Music and Brooklyn restaurant Marlow and Sons, brothy beans reintroduced cooking beans from dry – at least to many people around my age. Brothy beans are taking over the world.Īnd for good reason. In this easy recipe, beans simmer away in a spicy tomato broth with onions, carrots, and celery, and are served with crusty bread for a perfect winter lunch or dinner. Serve hot, making sure everyone gets plenty of sauce with their serving.Brothy beans are a perfect comfort food. Sprinkle the meatballs with the parsley (if using). To turn them every so often to make sure they cook evenly, until the meatballs are very firm to the touch and cooked through (break into one to check it), about 20 minutes. Simmer the meatballs uncovered, using tongs The second the mixture comes to a boil, turn the heat to low and add the meatballs in an even layer. Transfer the mixture to a large nonstick skillet over high heat (if you have a non-metal whisk, you can just whisk the mixture in the skillet). Place the stock, sour cream, and Worcestershire sauce in a medium bowl and whisk well to combine. You can also make the meatballs a little smaller or a little larger-just keep them all about the same size so that they cook evenly. Wetting your hands with cold water will help keep the mixture from sticking to them. It’s helpful to divide the mixture in half and then in half again and so on to make sure the meatballs are the same size. Place the turkey, egg, breadcrumbs, allspice, nutmeg, salt, and pepper in a large bowl and mix together well with your hands.įorm the mixture into 20 equal-sized meatballs. Today I’m sharing four of the meals I made in February, from delectable, savory meatballs to an easy grain salad that makes a week’s worth of leftovers. So what do we do when there is just no energy to put something on the table? For me, it all comes back to maintaining the ritual of making a meal without the mess of making it a fuss. Yet when I sat down to write this essay, I realized this low point in my culinary pursuits could actually be viewed as “aspirational,” in the most realistic way possible. From time to time, we all get sick of cooking meals day in and day out. Whatever is it, these days, I’m more likely to dip a Triscuit into a tub of cottage cheese while standing in my kitchen scrolling through Instagram than I am to set out to cook a specific recipe. Maybe it’s the lack of inspiration ( travel is the best medicine for cooking inspiration, I’ve found!) or perhaps it’s that I’d been using this time to go a bit more over the top with my meals than usual, bringing out crystal and china for grilled cheese sandwiches made with something special from the cheesemonger. We’re a year into this pandemic and I’ve lost my cooking mojo. 8/9/2023 0 Comments Missile command atari 2600In Missile Command, your responsibility is to protect the six cities on your planet from missiles which fall from the sky.
